What’s New in SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic Professional R2026x FD01

I want to thank those of you who joined my colleagues and me for the electrical sessions at the 3DEXPERIENCE World user event in Houston this year. It’s always a pleasure learning about your design processes and company needs. In addition, I was blown away by the robotics companies at the event and by the keynote speech by Pablos Holman, who shared his insightful take on how artificial intelligence can be used to solve real-world problems. He reminded us that technology is meaningless unless it solves real human challenges. Harnessing energy without depleting finite resources. Controlling global disease outbreaks by predicting patterns. The barriers AI can break right now are astounding. It’s an amazing time to be an engineer. The tools to build a better future are finally in our hands.

For those of you who don’t know me, I have a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and joined Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS in 2023. I work with the ECAD-MCAD electrical solutions, mechatronics solutions, and have recently stepped up to work with the electrical portfolio, including SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic Professional and other electrical solutions, as my former colleague Eric retired in December. In this blog, I’m excited to fill you in on what’s new in the latest functional delivery of SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic Professional R2026x FD01.

There are three key enhancements, including:

Update Existing Connectors without Reinsertion

In a previous update, we announced the ability to insert a connector on an existing schematic. Use the new Update Connector command to add, remove, or reorder circuits and adjust layout options without deleting and reinserting symbols.

Accelerate schematic updates by editing connector symbols directly after placement, reducing rework, and keeping complex schematics clean and consistent as requirements change.

Draw Multiple Terminal Strips Side by Side

You can now draw terminal strips side by side to see how the terminals are connected to different components, providing a better understanding of the continuity of the schematic itself.

This will help you reduce manual documentation effort and speed schematic output with the ability to place multiple terminal strips on a single page, side by side, with flexible horizontal and vertical layouts. This improves drawing clarity, reduces the number of pages needed, and delivers more compact, project-ready documentation.

Direct TEWZIP Access and Transparent Content Tracking

We have published tens of thousands of fully detailed TE Connectivity electrical components directly inside the Electrical Content Portal (ECP). All associated data, including metadata, symbols, footprints, and 3D models, are now stored and delivered natively from the ECP, replacing the former TraceParts website viewer.

This provides faster loading and more consistent navigation inside the ECP, centralized access to all TE Connectivity electrical components, and a seamless user experience, with no external frame or redirection.

I also want to remind you all that we introduced a new role called SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D (E3D) last year. E3D is a cloud-connected solution that enables a direct, two-way connection between 3D CAD and SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic Professional (platform version). E3D enables you to place electrical components in 3D, auto-route wires and cables using rules, and generate accurate production documentation like wire lengths and harness drawings. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the year!
