What’s New in 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight R2024x FD04

You all asked, and we’ve delivered. In the latest functional delivery (FD) update of 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight R2024x FD04, you now have the ability to insert blocks into your designs that have been stored on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, allowing for easy access and also enabling you to share them in the collaborative space.

It’s simple. Hit the Insert tab from the top menu bar, then click the Insert Block icon. From this window, hover over the browser button and click to view the Open dialog window, which now includes an option that says “Open from 3DEXPERIENCE.” If you recall, previously, you could only add a block that was saved to your local drive.

So, say you have a custom block that you saved on the platform. You can easily access and open it from Bookmarks in the Open dialog window and insert the block into your drawing. With the custom block, you can customize your drawing even more and quickly change it to various configurations we call Visibility States. This enables you to explore configurations that better fit your drawing’s needs. When you are satisfied just save the new drawing to your bookmark on the platform.

If you weren’t aware, we added the capability for you to easily access your bookmarks from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from the Open dialog in the last update. These are just a couple of the many enhancements that are now available to you to help boost your productivity.

To get the most out of 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight, make sure you are updating as the functional deliveries surface so you can take advantage of the latest capabilities as they become available throughout the year. Note this FD04 enhancement is available in both 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight Premium and Mechanical.

See how easy it is to use this new functionality by watching the video on the 3DSwym community here (requires log-in). And, there is more coming soon in the 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight 2025 GA [general availability] update in November.
