Where were you in 1995? Surfing the World Wide Web? Creating mix tapes? Paying fees for not rewinding VHS rentals? Certainly design and engineering had a much different look and feel – at least until December 12, 1995.
Twenty years ago, the first release of our software, SolidWorks® 95, was released to bring CAD technology to every engineer. Before SOLIDWORKS, CAD was expensive, north of $80,000, and not easily accessible from a technological perspective. All of that was going to change.
Check out this timeline to see the evolution of CAD – from features and functions to community and certification going back to the mid-90s until today. Do you have a favorite SOLIDWORKS feature of all time? Have you used every release? Got a fond memory of SOLIDWORKS World? We’d love to hear your SOLIDWORKS story below.
