SOLIDWORKS Part Reviewer: Vacuum Formed Cover Tutorial
Vacuum Formed Cover: This part demonstrates a few simple, essential techniques for efficiently modeling a symmetric drafted part. We start with creating an axis instead of using a model edge to define the direction of a pattern. Model edges can disappear with later features (like fillets, cuts, split lines) or change direction via draft while the axis is constant. Then when we add a draft to the rib when it is created to make sure that draft is correctly applied regardless of changes. Next, cut with surface using the right plane is entirely stable across changes, it eliminates unnecessary sketching. Lastly, the body is mirrored and merged.
