SOLIDWORKS For Good at 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022

3DEXPERIENCE World 2022. February 7-9, will highlight many aspects of the SOLIDWORKS community.  The SOLIDWORKS for Good program supports not-for-profit organizations,  providing  SOLIDWORKS community awareness  and software tools to help educate others and make our world better.

 The Seashore Trolley Museum

Our newest organization is the Seashore Trolley Museum of Kennebunkport, Maine.  The Seashore Trolley Museum educates the world about the history of transit.  The 1912 Portland-Lewiston Interurban Narcissus,  is currently being restored.  SOLIDWORKS software is assisting project manager Ernie Eaton and his team in this award-winning restoration.  Their use of SOLIDWORKS Visualize produces such life-like results, you can almost hear the bell ring.

Original components, such as the truck mounting bracket from Car 41, are designed in SOLIDWORKS and then CNC routed.

Educators – the Seashore Trolley Museum also has great resources for teaching and learning.  We are not able to showcase the Seashore Trolley Museum this year, but you can visit them in Maine for a great vacation.

The Magic Wheelchair

Our partnership with the Magic Wheelchair organization continues to grow.  Now the DASSAULT SYSTEMES Foundation, our employees, and the 3DEXPERIENCE Works software tools,  support the amazing custom wheelchair builds for kiddos – right out of our 3DEXPERIENCE Fab Lab in Waltham, MA.   Thank you to our VARs and SOLIDWORKS community that also supports these epic builds.

You can learn more about the Magic Wheelchair from the 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022 Break out session “Building Magic for Super Heroes in Wheelchairs”, Wednesday February 9.

LN4 Giving a Helping Hand

SOLIDWORKS for Good supports the  LN4 organization, Giving a Helping Hand, where designers from our community and SOLIDWORKS R&D engineers help to improve and implement changes to  free hand  prosthetics for those in need.  This year at 3DEXPERIENCE World, General Session, Day 3, Suchit Jain will announce a new competition for students and LN4 using our SOLIDWORKS cloud apps.

Danielle Boyer and The Steam Connection

The STEAMConnection organization is on a mission to make technology education for youth with the power of robotics.  Danielle Boyer, Founder and CEO,  is a young Indigenous (Ojibwe – Sault Ste Marie Tribe) robotics inventor, author, activist, and advocate for youth who has been teaching kids since she was ten years old. Danielle creates equitable and innovative learning solutions for minority youths with robots that she designs, manufacturers, and gives away for free.  With tools like SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids and help from our SOLIDWORKS User Groups and VARs, we look forward in seeing new projects in 2022..

We hope you can participate in 3DEXPERIENCE World and learn about SOLIDWORKS for Good.
