Take Your DraftSight Drawings on the Go with New Offline Mode

What if you could work on your drawings anytime, anywhere without worrying about an internet connection? With new offline mode, you can. I’m happy to announce this new feature in the latest version of 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight, R2022x FD03.

For those who don’t know, the 3DEXPERIENCE DraftSight role is our cloud-connected, 2D/3D drafting solution that features the same capabilities you love in the DraftSight® desktop, with access to cloud-based collaboration and data management capabilities on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Offline mode gives you the flexibility to work while you are traveling or on a manufacturing site that may not have the best internet connection or no connection at all. Anywhere really. Before you go offline, open the drawing that you are working on and switch to offline mode without worrying about losing your progress. Simply switch back to online mode and upload your drawings to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform when you get back online.

View and edit DWG files on the go with offline mode.

Switching to offline mode is easy. There are several to do so. You can type “WORKOFFLINE” in the command line or use the drop-down arrow on the top right corner to switch between online and offline mode. Once you switch to offline mode successfully, the “DraftSight Connected” header will reflect the status of the offline mode. The option to save to 3DEXPERIENCE platform will not be available in offline mode, but when you switch back online, DraftSight Connected will prompt you to reconnect and you will have access to the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane again.

Sound simple? It is!

Save your drawings to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform when you are back online.

A few pointers before you proceed in offline mode. Make sure you have created desktop shortcuts to open your 3DEXPERIENCE native apps when offline. Also, make sure the files you need are saved locally on your desktop.

Something else to keep in mind, is that you can work offline for up to 30 days. After 30 days, your apps will reconnect automatically. Otherwise, you can switch freely between offline mode and online mode as needed.

Bottom line is you’ve now got a flexible option to work on your drawings while on the go. It’s all about the user experience so we hope you find this improves yours.

Connecting DraftSight to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

For those on the fence about connecting DraftSight to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, in addition to benefits of data management, it is great for collaboration and once your data is on the cloud. You can safely store and share data internally across your entire organization and externally with your customers and stakeholders. Plus, you can access data anytime, anywhere from any device.

Connecting your DraftSight data to the cloud is ideal for:

  •         Organizing data on a single platform, connected to your whole team for secure sharing and collaboration from anywhere, at any time, and on any device.
  •         Ensuring a single source of truth. With all the data in the same place, everyone has real-time access, which helps teams avoid the risk of being out of sync on drawing revisions.
  •         Effortlessly connecting people and data while eliminating licensing and user management challenges.
  •         Sharing design data with stakeholders throughout the design process improves decision-making and helps save time and money in the development process.
