SOLIDWORKS World 2016 Product Showcase Preview

A clear takeaway form any SOLIDWORKS World is that the community creates some pretty amazing stuff. The Product Showcase is where you can get your hands on products created by fellow SOLIDWORKS users.simpson Last year, for example, I got to crash a drone, crash a helicopter simulator, and make Homer Simpson a 3D-printed luggage tag. Luckily I spared everyone’s ears by not taking a turn on the guitar.

So what do we have in store for you this year? We’re bringing back a favorite from last year, along with some new additions that will be hard to stay away from. Over the next two weeks, we’ll preview some of the products waiting for you in Dallas.

Advanced Metal Fabrication & Machine, Inc.

Advanced Metal Fabrication & Machine, Inc. is back by popular demand in 2016. If you missed them at SOLIDWORKS World 2015, Dallas is your next chance to test out your helicopter jockey skills in AMFM’s immensely fun helicopter simulator. People loved this simulator so much that we had to put it on the promotional banners we’ve been showing you since the fall. Now channel your inner Airwolf and go for test spin. Trust me, it’s ok if you crash.

Osterhout Design Group

Osterhout Design Group (ODG) has a long history of success in high-end electronics. Its more recent history involves breaking down barriers to fully functional augmented reality glasses – that actually augment what you’re doing. SOLIDWORKS World will be your opportunity to try these glasses on and make your reality an augmented one. Cool tidbit about ODG: founder Ralph Osterhout got his start turning gadgets into reality while making props for James Bond films in the 1970s. It looks like Q knows his way around 3D CAD.
