From the Fire into the Frying Pan
Summer in Texas is always hot, but this year has been especially so. We're closing in on the all-time record of 63 days of 100 degree temperatures, and it's been 24 straight days since we've seen a high of 99 or less. Yep – it's summer in Texas and the heat will likely stay with us for a few more weeks.
I really like traveling at this time of the year, because there's a pretty good chance I'll get a reprieve from the heat. Next week I'm heading out for two user group meetings….in Florida. The forecast calls for temps in the 90's, with scattered thunderstorms all week. Some reprieve.
On Tuesday I'll be presenting at the Daytona Beach SolidWorks User Groupmeeting. This group has really grown this year, almost tripling attendance over previous years. Group leader John Kerr has done a fantastic job since taking over. This will be my first visit to the group (and to Daytona Beach) and I'm looking forword to it.
On Wednesday I'll drive down the coast to Melbourne for the Central Florida SolidWorks User Group meeting. This will be my second visit to Melbourne, but it's been a few years. I always look forward to seeing my good friend Casey Gorman, who along with John Fox, has been running this user group for more than six years. I even got to pick the food for this meeting.
Speaking of food, I plan to sample some "Florida Fare" during my trip. I asked for suggestion on Twitterand was told to try Apalachicola Oysters, Cuban Sandwiches, Grouper Sandwiches, and/or Grilled Amberjack. All good suggestions, but I don't think I'll get to try them all. I've got two user group meals to fit in there somehow.
