Listen! It’s Not Your Mom’s or Dad’s Machine Shop Anymore.

The 3DEXPERIENCE Manufacturing and Design podcast series takes students, educators and professionals through the latest in technology.  Hosted by my colleagues, John Milbery and Michael Buchli, this month features two innovative manufacturing education programs at the community college and high school level.

Lynette Frey, long time SOLIDWORKS advocate, is now at Southeast Community College in Milford Nebraska.  Lynette’s goal for her students is to be problem solvers and a resource for their employers.  In SCC’s  manufacturing engineering program, Lynette prepares students to be critical thinkers that our SOLIDWORKS commercial customers require.  I was fortunate to visit the Omaha, NE and Lincoln, NE SOLIDWORKS Users Groups and the connection between educators, students, and companies is stronger than ever. You can hear from Lynette here.

At the high school level, Paul Clinton, Ross Erikson, and team from Cherry Creek Innovation Campus in Colorado, have taken their 20+ years of experience to transform technology education and fully incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) to prepare their students for both college/university and the skilled workforce.  The Cherry Creek team has been an integral part of SOLIDWORKS World and 3DEXPERIENCE World, highlighting their achievements in SOLIDWORKS Certification, Student Competitions, and Job Placement.  You can listen to Paul and Ross here.

Now is truly an exciting time for manufacturing! Throughout these 3DEXPERIENCE podcasts, you can listen to Aaron Kaufman, of Gas Monkey Garage TV show.  OK, full disclosure; I do like Ford’s versus Chevy’s, so Aaron is one of my heroes.  Sticking with vehicles, you can also hear from Jim and Mike Ring of RingBrothers that make some of the coolest cars on the planet.

It’s not just about cars and trucks, make certain you listen to the two Scott’s from MetalQuest Unlimited to find out more about robotics and innovative automation.

Stay tuned for the next podcast on 3DEXPERIENCE World.
