EBEC 2015 – European BEST Engineering Competition brings together talented engineering and engineering technology students to compete in local and regional design competitions. The aim of EBEC is to raise social awareness of all students in relation to current global technical tasks (problems). EBEC offers the possibility for students to engage in these issues while developing their technical skills, presentation skills, ability to work in teams and providing practical experience.

The best students went on to compete in last month’s finals.  My friend and SOLIDWORKS value added reseller, Rui Alexandre, from Sqedio, in Portugal sent me some great photos from the event.

The final competition was held at FEUP, Porto, Portugal. 88 universities and 6.000 students competed at the local level from 32 countries. 120 of them made it to the finals.

They designed on Dell computers equipped with SOLIDWORKS. Students were given a problem to build a device to perform certain tasks within limited time and limited material.

Engineering students presented their projects in front of professional judges from DELL, INTEL and other companies, and tried to demonstrate that their device met all the requirements.

They also had to provide a solution to a real problem of either technical nature or relating to business management. Solving this task requires analytical skills as well as gathering, filtering and analyzing information.

Rui thank you for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS community and providing students with the right design tools for such innovative projects.  Marie
