SOLIDWORKS Part Reviewer: Bellows Tutorial
Bellows: Metal bellows can be used to accommodate misalignment and movement in piping. Bellows also have application in some camera equipment and are used as expansion joints. Slight flexibility in the bellows allows them to stretch, bend, or shift sideways as needed.
This part illustrates use of the flex command to model all three movement modes. Stretching and bending illustrate basic usage. Modeling of the offset shows advanced control of the flex region using a reference coordinate system. This model shows different techniques to create the bellow geometry. It includes a quick overview of contrasting techniques of using surface and solid body features to create similar geometry. Some other features used to create this part besides the flex include: linear patterns, surface extrude, surface revolve, thicken, surface-knit and the creation of a coordinate system. Download this file to learn about the flex command and how to create a coordinate system.
