SOLIDWORKS Education Edition delivers 3D design solutions to help unleash students’ creativity for inspired design.

At SOLIDWORKS, our commercial customers need qualified students to develop the next products. Because educators work closely with our commercial customers, we support their enhancement request to have a similar software release schedule.

We give educators a choice when using SOLIDWORKS for PC (Desktop).

We have created a What is New in SOLIDWORKS EDU 2025 website just for educators to outline our software applications for you and your students.

This year we feature PROTEUS Motion in our SOLIDWORKS 2025 videos and the product story behind their innovative fitness machine. PROTEUS Motion’s chief engineer, Paul Vizzio, first learned SOLIDWORKS at Boston University as a student and later would intern with SOLIDWORKS.  Now Paul is a leading hardware entrepreneur.

 

SOLIDWORKS for your PC (Desktop) is so much more than a CAD tool.  It is a suite of product design, simulation and document applications used to create innovative products. You can create a multi-view drawing and BOM from your 3D model or simulate air flow over a wing. SOLIDWORKS Electrical gives your students the opportunity to design 2D schematics and 3D wire harnesses for mechatronics projects.  SOLIDWORKS Visualize provides photo-quality images for those final presentations. SOLIDWORKS CAM and SOLIDWORKS Plastics introduce students to manufacturing methods. SOLIDWORKS Composer is used to create 3D engineering graphical content and documentation.

SOLIDWORKS for your PC also connects to our cloud services and cloud CAD apps through the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, a technology platform developed by Dassault Systèmes and used by our largest customers to innovative start-ups. With SOLIDWORKS xApps (Cloud), your can run new CAD tools from a web browser on MAC, Tablets or PC and use other apps to share information in a safe community.

For schools on subscription, SOLIDWORKS provides hundreds of hours of lessons and learning paths through MySOLIDWORKS and individual home use licenses for free.  Your students can download SOLIDWORKS 2025, SOLIDWORKS 2024, or SOLIDWORKS 2023 from our Community download page to use on their PC’s and match the release that is in your classroom or lab.

Our SOLIDWORKS Edu upgrade would not be complete without providing educators our SOLIDWORKS Certifications for your students.  These are the same certifications used by industry for their designers and engineers.
