More Jobs – More SOLIDWORKS Certifications

For the first 5 months of 2024, we had  a record number of SOLIDWORKS Certification exams given by educators to their students though our SOLIDWORKS Academic Provider Program.  The SOLIDWORKS Academic Provider program allows qualified institutions on subscription to give our certification exam to enrolled students.  These exams are the same ones provided to our commercial customers.  There are over 800,000 certified SOLIDWORKS users in the world.

Design Instructor and SOLIDWORKS User Group leader for EDU SWUG, Joshua Bridges, CSWP posted on Linked in about this school years’ students at Van Buren Tech.  A record number of SOLIDWORKS certifications issued!  Joshua has a SWUG meeting scheduled for June 20.  Anyone can attend.

Why an increase in certification exams taken by students?

  1. More educators are giving the SOLIDWORKS certification exams as a midterm/final exam.  We have simplified the execution process and tied it to the .EDU address of the qualified school. Questions are randomized, delivered online, automatically graded, certificates rewarded on successful completion, and class outcomes recorded.
  2. Educators are offering more specialty exams in the areas of simulation, additive manufacturing, and skills like sheet metal design, drawings, weldments and surface modeling
  3. 3DEXPERIENCE Certification Center records a life time of certifications, connects to students’ and professionals’  Linked In profiles,  and can be searched by potential employers.
  4. JOBS!  It’s about the jobs requirement.

Let’s look at what employers and industry advisory boards are telling educators and students. “SOLIDWORKS skills are required.”   You do not get a job knowing how to model a  part in any CAD software. Todays job skills require SOLIDWORKS to  trouble shoot, adhering to design standards, and utilize advanced SOLIDWORKS features and functions.

The largest on-line job site in the USA, Indeed.com, is using AI to streamline the process for employers and applicants.  The word “SOLIDWORKS”  is listed as a core skill.  If you do not have SOLIDWORKS skills, you may not be considered.

Next comes the increase in advanced skills.  Job descriptions now list SOLIDWORKS certifications in  Sheet Metal, SOLIDWORKS Drawings, and Simulation. The acronyms for Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) and Certified SOLIDWORS Professional (CSWP) are also listed in the job description.

When I taught at Mass Bay Community College, there were certification exams in other CAD software that required students to pay to take an exam. SOLIDWORKS certification was free to students 20 years ago.  It is still free today through the SOLIDWORKS Academic provider program.

As a SOLIDWORKS Academic provider, a SOLIDWORKS educator can give for free, 20+ certification exams in SOLIDWORKS, DraftSight, and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform (cloud) exams to their students. Exams are provided in multiple languages. Start with SOLIDWORKS Associate – CAD Design (CSWA) and go anywhere.

Educators, let us provide an exam that your students will remember for a lifetime.  Students, ask your instructor to apply to become a SOLIDWORKS Academic provider.  A SOLIDWORKS exam is an exam you will want to take.

Design well, Marie
