SOLIDWORKS Sponsors Spaceport America Cup
The Spaceport America Cup is the world’s largest Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) for student rocketry teams.
So where in the world do you host a rocket competition? Spaceport America is located between Las Cruces, New Mexico and Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The Jornada Mountain Range separates Spaceport America from White Sands Missile Range. Sharing the controlled airspace allows student rocketeers to achieve new heights for their rockets.
This is the fifth year that SOLIDWORKS provides software to Spaceport America Cup teams through our SOLIDWORKS Student Sponsorship program. Students can request SOLIDWORKS Desktop. Students can also request 3DEXPERIENCE Engineer for cloud storage, sharing information, and SIMULIA analysis tools like Abaqus for a Modeling-Simulation (MOD-SIM) approach to design.
With over 140 teams from colleges and universities in 32 countries, the competition continues to grow every year. Students compete at a bachelors, masters and PhD engineering level.
What is the target altitude? Students launch solid, liquid, and hybrid rockets to target altitudes of 10,000 and 30,000 feet. Impressive.
We can’t wait to walk the tents and catch up with students teams – when they are not presenting to the judges.
Teams. It’s not too early to start planning for 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024 Dallas, Texas. We are looking for an amazing rocket team to exhibit in our EDU Zone product showcase.
Any Spaceport America Cut Student Team can apply for sponsorship here.
Design well. Marie
