SOLIDWORKS Reseller Sqedio Celebrates Partnership with Incubator Pedro Nunes Institute Coimbra
Innovation and history are interwoven in Portugal. Sqédio, our value-added reseller, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS® solutions in Portugal, celebrates the partnership with the Incubator of the Pedro Nunes Institute (IPN) . IPN will make available to its members a diverse range of products from the ecosystem of DS SOLIDWORKS® solutions.
The IPN Incubator is one of the oldest and most prestigious national and international institutions, having been awarded the 5th best incubator in the world in the ranking of the World Incubation Summit 2018, resulting from a comparative study – UBI World Benchmark Study 2017 – that evaluated 1370 programs of incubation and acceleration of companies linked to universities.
IPN has accumulated an important number of success stories in its operation, having been the driving force behind several innovative, technology-based and advanced-technology (deep-tech) business projects, such as Feedzai, one of the most valuable technologies of Portugal, from Take the Wind, which entered this year for Delloite’s 500 technology ranking, or Critical Software, one of the most prestigious national software houses, or Friday, a company dedicated to the development of floating houses and submarines, also a client of Sqédio.
The partnership with IPN is the first national implementation of a global program recently introduced by DS SOLIDWORKS, which seeks to promote and support startups incubation and acceleration programs whose operational scope involves the development of physical products.
According to Paulo Santos, Director of the IPN Incubator, “This partnership with Sqédio and DS SOLIDWORKS represents an extremely important milestone for our incubator, as it has decisively strengthened our value proposition with many of our startups who, on the other would not be able to access the magnificent working tools that are available to them here. It also serves as an example of excellence to motivate other large companies to join similar initiatives in other areas that are also important for the incubator and its companies.”
Rui Alexandre, Director of Pre-Sales, Marketing and Education at Sqédio commented: “The development of innovative products nowadays involves an integrated design, mechanical, electronic and software solution that is a complete experience of use. This program seeks to provide incubated startups with the development and simulation tools needed to make this process the best possible way. “
He adds: “We could not have found a better partner to start this program in Portugal than the IPN incubator. The technological innovation environment here is contagious and we are certain that incubated startups will take advantage of this integrated portfolio of industry-leading tools. “
One of the first startups to take advantage of DS SOLIDWORKS solutions at IPN will be Matereo , one of the most recent incubator companies dedicated to the development of mechanical, structural and critical system designs for the aerospace, aeronautics, automotive and submarine industries.

Thank you Rui for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS community. We look forward to seeing more innovative products from IPN. Marie
