SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneur: ARION the Next-Generation of Running Wearables

Ato-Gear Logo

ARION is changing the future of wearable fitness technology to transform the way you run. This entrepreneurial team is making a breakthrough in automated coaching; helping to reduce risk of injury, improve performance, and enhance the running experience.

How does ARION work?

ARION works with top level coaches and runners such as Andrea van Lieshout, Jonathan Mutebwa and Laurens Groenendijk. Van Lieshout, as a Dutch world championship OCR runner and trail runner, sees ARION as a tool that can set the bar even higher for her. A Dutch national champion and personal trainer, Mutebwa uses ARION to track his own progress and to see details in his running technique that he was not able to see before. Groenendijk is the Netherlands national trail running team coach who has found that ARION is able to bring more insight in training methods, and ultimately helping runners reach their goals.

Inserts with sensors

ARION’s ultra-thin insoles slip neatly underneath your existing running shoe insoles. The eight different sensors accurately measure runners’ interaction between their feet and the ground. ARION has been able to utilize the SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneurship Program to develop most of the plastic enclosures and to help with mold designs.

I got a chance to converse with the Marketing Manager, Matthijs de Deugd and Co-founder and CTO, Jurgen van den Berg about their experience with the SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneurship Program. “We knew SOLIDWORKS as a powerful tool for 3D design and, we knew we needed it for our business,” Jurgen explained. “We wish we could stay in the program longer.”

ARION team

ARION is currently working on bringing their product to the public’s attention. They are already accepting pre-orders at a limited discount with plans to ship orders in September.

Thank you to Matthijs de Deugd, Jurgen van den Berg and the team behind ARION for being a SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneur and sharing with our community.
