SolidWorks Supports with Trusst from Students to Entrepreneurs
As a mechanical engineer you take an engineering mechanics statics class and learn about simply supported beams and the “truss”. The truss becomes the strength behind many products including start-up Trusst Lingerie. I got to interview entrepreneurial founders Sophia and Laura about their new business and products.
Both Sophia and Laura saw a problem with today’s current lingerie product options. Simply, they were not supportive, not comfortable and not pretty. As industrial designers, they learned SOLIDWORKS in school at CMU. Head of engineering, Kyala learned SOLIDWORKS at NC State and CMU.
SolidWorks CEO, Gian Paulo Bassi and VP of Business Strategy, Suchit Jain got to visit with Sophia, Laura and Kyala at this start up in Pittsburgh’s accelerator, Alphalabgear. Alphalabgear incubator helps start-ups get started, mentoring 100+ businesses. Thank you to our value added reseller, Dan Wilkes, Prism Engineering for supporting these start-ups.
This team has worked hard to get their products to market. They would design by day and 3D Print by night. The initial launch of this startup has been so successful that they are taking pre-orders now, Their product will ship in the spring 2016.
I asked Sophia and Laura what advice they would give SolidWorks students and young entrepreneurs they replied, “No idea is too crazy to pursue, stay your course, follow your passion.”
Thank you Trusst for supporting our future and sharing with the SolidWorks Community. The SOLIDWORKS for Entrepreneurs program helps start-ups get the best software design tools. More information on the SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneur program can be found here. Marie
