Egyptian Girls Help Shape AAKRUTI Global 2024 with Sustainable Design
As a company with over 20,000 employees from 135 countries, Dassault Systèmes realizes that disruptive innovation requires a diverse workplace in which women have an important role to play. Supporting women at all levels is what we do. That is why in our sustainable design competition, AAKRUTI Global 2024, we encouraged student teams to include women in engineering design and technology roles.
The all-women team, “Egyptian Girls” represented their country at the AAKRUTI Global 2024 finals held in Pune, India this month. Fatma Sabry, Farah Wael, Hala Mohamed and Nourhan Nagy developed the project, Robo Machine. Supporting the Sustainable Habitat/City Infrastructure category, Robo Machine identifies potholes through scanning the road and then fills the pothole with sustainable materials using 3D printing techniques.
No great project can be accomplished without support. Mechatronics Engineer, Hassan Selim Elshokrofy, Shoubra Benha University Cario, Egypt, is the mentor and faculty member behind Egyptian Girls. Also supporting the team is our SOLIDWORKS Reseller and Partner, CADCAMCIM. Thank you, Marwa El Serougy, for promoting this girls in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) project. With Marwa’s help, we are able to share a portion of the Egyptian Girls presentation with you.
The Egyptian Girls presented to the judges on the definition of the problem and the stages of pothole formation.
Using tools like SOLIDWORKS and apps from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, these young engineers presented the Design Process from searching and research to modeling and simulation.
With an emphasis on the market and sound engineering, the Egyptian Girls also created their final renders and discussed future direction.
During the AAKRUTI presentations, what impressed me the most was the timing from problem statement to description to grueling questions and answers with the judges. The questions/answers 10 minute period showcased the debt of knowledge of the Egyptian Girls in a “Shark Tank” environment.
On behalf of the SOLIDWORKS Community and 3DEXPERIENCE Student Community we wish the Egyptian Girls team the best!
Design well. Marie
