It’s Great to be a Teacher at ITEEA
The International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) had its 77th annual conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last week.
I’ve been to ITEEA for a numbers of years, but this year something was different. Yes, Milwaukee is a great city. Teachers joked of a “beer and motorcycles” theme. But ITEEA’s true theme was “Building Technology and Engineering STEM Partnerships.”
ITEEA members did not disappoint. Great presentations and exhibitions were given by universities, colleges, and high schools that focused on STEM subjects that are making a difference in jobs.
The best comments came from SOLIDWORKS CSWA Academic Providers that can boast how their students get great jobs. After passing the CSWA exam, students become CSWA certified. Richard Platt, Sarasota, Florida, has been providing the CSWA exam to both middle school and high school students for years. With sound manufacturing skills, his students continue to place high in global competitions and get great jobs – even before they graduate. Florida education with SOLIDWORKS is helping to grow young talent in design and manufacturing.
Students enjoyed showing us their products in SOLIDWORKS.
A major shift is occurring in digital design and digital manufacturing education. Fab Labs from Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota showed how they work with students, teachers and communities. Started by the Fab Foundation, Fab Labs continues to grow in both US and world-wide locations providing access to communities of all ages to learn and to do.
Thank you ITEEA for a great event.
And thank you Milwaukee School of Engineering SAE team for telling us to try the “fried cheese curds.” Marie
