Check out this video which is part of a three part series providing tips to help learn SolidWorks if you have used Creo or ProE before and now have to learn SolidWorks for school or for a job.  The basic SolidWorks interface for a part document as well as the fundamentals on creating a part is shown in this video.  Feature-based parametric modeling is very similar between the software it is just a matter of learning the interface and the steps needed to create these features.  The other videos in this series cover the transition to SolidWorks when creating assembly and drawing documents.  I hope this will help in the transition to SolidWorks from Creo or ProE.
