Pumpkin 3D CAD Model in SolidWorks
For this post I decided in the spirit of Halloween to make a pumpkin. My thought is that you can download this model and carve your own virtual Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween. For my next post I will show what I carved out of my pumpkin. To create this pumpkin I revolved an arc that was offset from the vertical axis that went through the origin. I then used a circular pattern around that axis to create the ridges on the outside of the pumpkin. The stem was created using a sweep feature with a twist to give it more of a natural appearance. I also shelled the inside of the pumpkin so that when it was carved it would give the appearance that the inside was scooped out. I took the liberty to insert two planes to get you started on carving your pumpkin. Just draw a sketch on one of those planes and use the extrude cut with the option of up to next to carve your pumpkin. This model was created in SolidWorks 2011. I hope you enjoy carving your own pumpkin.
