Build, Draw, Build
In this lesson wood, foam board, or cardboard is used to improve high school student’s visualization skills, understanding of the manufacturing processes, measurement, and safety. The student builds an abstract object from their drafting book. The builder then takes the object into the drafting lab and draws the plans. The objects are then hidden by the teacher, and the plans are traded among the students. The student then uses the plan to build the object. The objects are compared, side by side, at the end of the exercise, and the process is debriefed. Contributed by Gordon Smith, Colorado.
