Pot of Gold Money Jar Tutorial

In this SOLIDWORKS tutorial a Pot of Gold Money Jar is created using a range of modelling features including, revolve, extrude, circular patterns, shell, mirror and sweep boss. The whole design can be created in one part, with the decals and coin part available below. The tutorial demonstrates the uses of the center line sketch tool as a guide for sketches, new planes, and axis for pattern or move features.

The sweep feature is created with new planes, guide sketches and a profile that mimics several wires. The sweep profiles is then twisted along the path to create a twisted wire handle that loops into the pots ears. The face ends of the sweep are then domed by un-ticking the continuous dome box to neatly close off the handle on both ends.

Appearances and decals are applied to the design before being brought into an assembly where a gold coin was added. The decals and coin part can be downloaded here.

SOLIDWORKS exploded views and motion analysis where used to create an animation which could be exported in SOLIDWORKS Visualize and rendered, the finished animation can be seen at the end of the tutorial below!
