The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the tool for educators to run virtual classrooms – communicating to your class, teaching cloud CAD, collaborating on team projects, grading assignments and so much more. Our philosophy is to constantly enrich our 3DEXPERIENCE Edu portfolio. This ensures schools and students will always have access to cutting-edge technology to shape the workforce of the future.

Now included with all 3DEXPERIENCE Edu roles are two new apps:  3DStory and 3DSketch.

3DStory

This is one of my favorite new apps. The tagline says it all – “pitch your idea in minutes! It allows students to visually tell their design process story with jazzy images, text, videos – and most importantly – integrated 3D viewers! With loads of preset template slides and infinitely customizable settings, communicating your ideas couldn’t be easier.

Best part, 3DStory is accessible on the cloud for students and teachers to create and view anytime from any device. Yes, that means you can view your students’ final project presentations from your iPad, as you sit fireside in your favorite robe. No more static, cumbersome PowerPoint files that don’t allow for 3D model viewing. Gone are the days of emailing content and presentations, since everything is right at your fingertips in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Simply post your 3DStory to your 3DSwym community and that’s it! Teachers and students can then comment directly on your post for feedback. Check out the video below!

3DSketch

Now capturing ideas is easier than ever! 3DSketch is a cloud-based drawing app that can replace those analog napkin sketches – and then turn it into 3D! Quickly block in your concept by drawing perfect circles, straight lines, arcs and more with integrated shape recognition. Rotate your sketch in 3D to refine your concept. Since it’s on the cloud, you can even use your finger and smartphone or tablet to capture your next great idea. Then easily share it to your 3DSwym community for feedback from the team. That simple.

Once you’re ready, you can then use xDesign, xShape or even SOLIDWORKS CAD to take your concept to the next level. Happy sketching!
