What Do Star Chasers, Hello Kitty Bottles and Entrepreneurs Have in Common?
One of the best parts of my jobs in SOLIDWORKS marketing has always been learning about all the cool things our customers do. We recently published some new customer case stories that are a little more consumer-facing – touching us a little more directly than our staple of industrial equipment; I hope you find as interesting as I do.
Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (US) – The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CFA) combines the resources and research facilities of the Harvard College Observatory and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) under a single director to pursue studies of the physical processes that determine the nature and evolution of the universe. By selecting SOLIDWORKS solutions, SAO reduced development and machining time and costs, shortened nonlinear analysis time from a week to a half hour, cut system weight while ensuring performance, and improved design visualization.
Laney College (US) – Serving the city with the highest violent crime rate in California, Oakland-based Laney College helps students take advantage of educational opportunities that help them become responsible members of the community. By implementing SOLIDWORKS Education Edition software, Laney College’s Machine Technology Program increased employment placement to over 90 percent, graduated more highly skilled machinists, supported a resurgence in manufacturing in the Bay Area.
MassChallenge, Inc. (US) – MassChallenge operates the world’s largest entrepreneurial accelerator program and leverages the power of competition to create urgency among early-stage start-ups; identify promising product ideas; and aggregate high-impact teams and resources. The company added SOLIDWORKS software to give promising start-ups access to a design platform that accelerates product development. Using SOLIDWORKS helped two recent MassChallenge winners, Roof For Two and Day to Night, get their business off the ground.
SDEI Ouest (France) – SDEI Ouest, an engineering consulting firm based in Cholet, France, undertook the challenge of designing, building, and installing the first velarium since the fall of Rome at the Gallo-Roman stadium at Puy du Fou in Vendée, France. They utilized SOLIDWORKS Premium design and SOLIDWORKS Simulation analysis solutions to design, engineer, and optimize the velarium’s 8,800 components.
TTK Prestige (India) – Over the past five decades, TTK Prestige Limited has emerged as India’s largest kitchen appliances company catering to the needs of the country’s homemakers. Every Prestige brand product is built on the pillars of safety, innovation, durability, and trust, making the brand the first choice in millions of homes. Implementing SOLIDWORKS helped the Design Team reduce design errors, improve productivity, and accelerate time-to-market.
Vitro, S.A.B. de C.V. (Mexico) – Vitro, S.A.B. de C.V. has produced both flat glass and glass containers for more than a century. Vitro’s container products are mainstay packaging solutions for the food, beverage, wine and liquor, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The company implemented SOLIDWORKS software to improve the ability to model, visualize, and communicate innovative cosmetic bottle design concepts while streamlining production and shortening time-to-market.
