A Great First Meeting in New Mexico

The latest addition to the SolidWorks User Group Network got off to a great start in Albuquerque Wednesday evening.  More than 30 attendees were treated to a visit from Scott Harris, SolidWorks Co-Founder, who did an excellent presentation on the history of CAD and SolidWorks.

Group leader Nestor Montano did a fantastic job setting up the meeting (with some excellent support from MCAD Technologies), and already has a user group board in place to help propel the group into the next meeting.  The room was great, the food was good, and the members were very active in the meeting.

We stayed around for more than an hour afterward talking about SolidWorks, Rapid Prototyping, and a variety of other topics – no one was ready for the meeting to end.  This group looks poised for much success.

Local user Mason Hutchison also had  quite a night.  Mason recently passed the CSWP test (the 15th CSWP in New Mexico), won the SolidWorks trivia contest we held, and told me this was going to be his first and last NMSWUG meeting.  Seems Mason has accepted a new job with Burt Rutan’s company in California where he’ll be working with SolidWorks on some serious projects.  Good luck in the Mojave Mason, sounds like a great opportunity.
