What’s New SOLIDWORKS 2025 – SOLIDWORKS Live Rewatch

Did you catch the most recent episode of SOLIDWORKS Live? In September, we aired our BIGGEST episode of the year, What’s New in SOLIDWORKS 2025, an episode where we shared so many of our new enhancements and product features included in the latest release.

We highlighted the new improvements that position SOLIDWORKS as the ultimate solution for collaborative product development, showcasing the most effective methods for teams to work together and design world-class products. The enhancements featured in this episode were all illustrated through the lens of SOLIDWORKS customer, Proteus Motion.

Our host, Sean O’Neill, brought us through the agenda of the episode, which was to touch on everything from SOLIDWORKS R&D to Collaboration and even Visualization.

Before getting into the details of our first segment, Sean highlighted https://www.SOLIDWORKS.com/BUY as an excellent and exciting new way customers can purchase SOLIDWORKS online.

We were then treated to an interview with Bruce Holway and John Sweeney of the SOLIDWORKS R&D team, during which they talked about improvements to the software by the numbers. They also discuss their methodology to product development that lead them to the enhancements present in SOLIDWORKS 2025.

Sean then interviews Mark Peterson, one of our Industry Process Consultants here at SOLIDWORKS, about those enhancements pertaining to PART DESIGN. These included Z-Up orientation options, the selection accelerator toolbar for chamfers, silhouette geometry options, and so much more!

Next, Sean spoke with another Industry Process Consultant, Mike Sande, all about ASSEMBLY DESIGN-related enhancements available in SOLIDWORKS 2025. He highlighted exciting new options dealing with assembly loading that effectively best optimize the resources your machine has at its disposal to ensure SOLIDWORKS is running as smoothly as possible. In the example Mike shares, he experiences a 27% increase in performance speed, which we’re sure every user will appreciate with this release.

He also shared highlights some new features that build-upon enhancements introduced years ago; in a particular example, options available within SpeedPak.

COLLABORATION was next with Sean’s guest – another Industry Process Consultant – Steve Fick, as he talked largely about the ways SOLIDWORKS 2025 helps users to manage and store their work without creating additional overhead to their design processes. Steve discusses things like enhancements within SOLIDWORKS PDM that will help users with this goal, as well as things like feature tree improvements, and settings within the Bill of Materials dialogue.

In order to provide many of the top enhancements surrounding DETAILING (DRAWINGS & MBD), Sean brought on Industry Process Consultant, Gian Calise. Gian covered enhancements like multi-approval stamping, the ability to reload drawings and enhancements to detailed cut lists, all of which contribute to innovative design and collaboration across members of your organization.

Sean then brought on Brian Zias – Industry Process Consultant Director – to discuss many of the highlighted enhancements surrounding ECAD within SOLIDWORKS 2025. Especially within the electronic devices of the Proteus Motion product offering, this  segment within the episode was especially insightful, with features such as Excel import tools, specific circuitry visibility options and so much more.

Industry Process Consultant Peter Kjellbotn then joined Sean to discuss many of the new enhancements surrounding SIMULATION. He discussed items surrounding PCB simulation, power integrity and more. Electronics were heavily featured, as items such as EMC readings were featured as tools designed to help customers meet and exceed emissions standards set forth by governing bodies such as the FCC.

Finally, last but not least, Sean spoke with one final Industry Process Consultant, Jesse Sprague, to discuss everything that he’s excited about surrounding VISUALIZATION. Jesse dives deep into new enhancements surrounding Visualize, including a new API that integrates its tools right into SOLIDWORKS to help users create impressive renderings with things like background renders, a new “2025 Fast Mode,” and intelligent blurring of backgrounds/floors. All of the tools Jesse highlighted will help users up their game for those all-important presentations where it’s vitally important to put your best foot forward.
