SOLIDWORKS and SIMULATION – Together in Education

SOLIDWORKS continues to be a necessary job skill for design and engineering professionals and as a result is taught in schools from middle school and high schools, technical institution and college and universities.

SOLIDWORKS desktop is connected to cloud services through the 3DEXPERIENCE Add In.  3DEXPERIENCE Engineer is a new education offer on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, that brings together science and engineering technologies in a single environment.  Our new engineering simulation portfolio of products allows educators to cover structural mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, multibody dynamics and electromagnetic field simulation for a true Multiphysics approach.

Although in engineering school you take individual courses in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, electromagnetics, come time for your senior design project – or your first job, you need to solve multi-faceted problems with answers not in the back of a single book.

On May 17, begins our new summer Simulation series, Getting Started with Simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Short tutorial videos of simulation workflows follow the interactive session of live demonstrations by expert users.  With a super cool electric bike demonstration, we will show you how to assess the structural, fluid, thermal, electromagnetic, and motion performance of products to innovate better designs faster and to show your students how these topics, that live on their own in courses, must truly be incorporated into a modeling (Mod) and simulation (Sim) approach.

ModSim is more than the 3DModel and the Simulation of the model.  It is a new way of thinking that includes asking the questions:

• Will it work?

• Can it be assembled?

• What if it drops?

• Is it strong enough?

• Will it last?

• Will it overheat?

• Can it be manufactured?

Getting a virtual product right the first time introduces sustainable design to your students.  Physical prototypes are costly and waste natural materials.

You will learn about core capabilities, best practices, and target applications delivered by cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE Works Simulation by Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA (Abaqus + more) technology, a multi-disciplinary portfolio integrated within SOLIDWORKS. 3DEXPERIENCE Engineer in Education contains all the roles in the 3DEXPERIENCE Works Simulation portfolio.

With new easy to use interfaces and “assistants”, all your engineering students, no matter what their level, can learn these approaches with simple exciting examples for your freshman class or more complex analysis for projects like Formula Electric teams or autonomous robots.

It’s going to be a great Simulation summer.

Give here to watch May 17 at 10am or on-demand after the show.

Design well.  Marie
