Fab Lab Valletta – Malta’s Community Space for Designers and Makers
The island nation of Malta has a rich history and culture. It’s capital, Valletta is a European Art City and a World Heritage City. Fab Lab Valletta brings together education and entrepreneurship for a community of designers and makers.
Director, Milan Noro, provided us with the story on how Fab Lab Valletta is making a difference in his community and the global Fab Lab network.
We were introduced to three student interns, João Queirós, Pedro Pereira, Ana Teixeira, from Arvore Escola Artistica Porto, Portugal.
FabLab Valletta’s mission is to sensitize the community to the benefits of digital fabrication technologies in order to encourage their use in solving everyday problems for the city and its citizens, as described by one of the founders, Joe Galea.
Illustrations of the historic bridge project the team was working on could be found in the marble stairwell of the Architect-Project building. It was an honor to meet David Felice, founding partner of Architecture Projects and founding partner of FabLab Valletta.
Fab Lab Manager Olivia Sike, from Hungary also shares this passion for design and making as she proudly displayed the “2017 Business Website Award” for Fab Lab Valletta.
The students gave us more details on they use SOLIDWORKS for everything designed in school. They shared their projects with us.
The students also showed us a soccer-pool game designed for children to play in the park.
All will be graduating this year and continuing with SOLIDWORKS at university. They will continue their internship at the Fab Lab Valletta for three months.
Thank you Milan, David, Joe, Olivia and students for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS community. Marie
