FAB LABS featured at SOLIDWORKS WORLD!
FAB LABS are advanced digital fabrication laboratories that consist of design and manufacturing tools to people in a community promoting local entrepreneurship and education. Users learn to design and create objects of personal interest or importance.
At SOLIDWORKS WORLD, the FAB Foundation, responsible for 340 FAB LABS and 30 Fab Academies, brings to SOLIDWORKS users an experience of this vibrant user community of Fabbers, makers and STEM educators.
Last year, I was fortunate to go to FAB10 Barcelona, the conference for FAB LABS. The FAB LAB community passion for design had the same energy as the SOLIDWORKS Community passion for design. We need to share a little of the FAB LAB experience with the SOLIDWORKS WORLD Experience.
So with the help of Sherry Lassiter, director of the Fab Foundation, we have a two Shop Bots and a Vinyl Cutter in our interactive Product Showcase where our SOLIDWORKS users can experience what FAB LABS and FAB Education is all about.
For members of the press and bloggers, Sherry Lassiter will be speaking on, Fab Futures – Understanding the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Education behind Fab Labs and Fab Academies, in the Monday 1:30 pm media session.
For the SOLIDWORKS World attendees, Sherry will be presenting a breakout session, Fab Labs in Education and Innovation, Tuesday at 2:45 pm.
SOLIDWORKS users, Fabbers, makers, you can see streaming live of all three General Sessions from www.solidworks.com/sww.
Tune in to hear from our keynote addresses from Bre Pettis, founder of MakerBot started in FAB LAB Brooklyn, Michio Kaku, and Jinsop Lee as they highlight the next industrial revolution in 3D printing, how technology will change our lives, and how designing for the five senses is changing the world of design.
