Check out this video which is the second part of a three part series providing tips to help learn SolidWorks if you have used Creo or ProE before and now have to learn SolidWorks for school or for a job. The basic SolidWorks interface for an assembly document as well as the fundamentals of creating a simple assembly is shown.
