Since 1996, our SolidWorks value-added reseller, Sqedio has been supporting educators and students in Portugal. This year, the design contest uses a Facebook platform for the People’s Choice Award. There are additional categories in the design contest such as photorealistic rendering, animation, SolidWorks Simulation (FEA), SolidWorks Motion (kinematics) and SolidWorks Flow Simulation (CFD).
Use your imagination with the Bionic prosthetic arm above, by Pedro Pinheiro – Escola Superior de Artes e Design, Caldas da Rainha (IPL) – Caldas da Rainha as it expands your knowledge of robotics.
Today, I talked with Rui Alexandre about how Sqedio engineers review each model and its design intent. These models are advanced. For example, the Playground entitled “Angry Birds” by Bruno Oliveira, Tiago Fernandes, from Escola Básica e Secundária Ferreira de Castro – Oliveira de Azeméis, has over 12,000 features.
The Rotary Engine modeled by Ricardo Pereira Gomes, Ricardo Araújo Diogo, Instituto Superior Técnico – Lisbon, show beautiful cooperation between the SolidWorks technical model and Photoview 360.
The traditional Olive Oil press was reverse engineered by Carlos Manuel Filipe from Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Abrantes (IPT) – Abrantes, visiting a traditional press day after day to take measurements of every component.
You can review the model of a microscope Bresser BioLux AL – Miguel Romão Lourenço, João Gonçalves Correia – Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, Lisbon and feel like you are right in the microbiology lab.
And enjoy a cup of coffee with assembly drawings of a coffee machine Hélder Gaspar Cordeiro, – Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão (IPL) – Leiria
I can look hopefully into the future with the team, Fábio Coelho, Jesse Andrade, Wilson Fiel, Universidade Lusófona – Lisbon, and their temporary housing system. There image and drawing submissions are outstanding.
These are only a few SolidWorks models created by Portuguese students. There are many more at the contest location. What are your favorites? Thank you Rui for giving students such a great opportunity and the rest of us a chance to Marie
