SolidWorks World Day 1

SolidWorks World NOA robot

SolidWorks World 2012 woke over 5000 users this morning to a rock – hip-hop dancing robot video.  The NAO robot, designed by SolidWorks customer, Aldebaran Robotics, instructed Bertrand Sicot, president and CEO of DS SolidWorks Corp.

There are now over 1.7 million users in the SolidWorks Community – engineers, designers, manufacturers, educators and students.  We reached a milestone of over 50,000 certified users, Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA), Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP and Certified SolidWorks Expert (CSWE).

You can find out more about all the speakers on the SolidWorks blog .

Mike Rowe (Discovery TV's Dirty Jobs) was a surprised guest, spoke on the need for skilled workers as he had testified to Congress about the lack of tradespeople and vocational programs that are being closed due to lack of funds.

I truly applaud our educators here this week that teach their students to design and build something – anything and to teach the skills of machining, welding and engineering drawing.

Last night at the partner pavillion I was introduced to Tom Atchison and his amazing rocket – yes rocket, that was designed in SolidWorks and on display the Partner Pavilion.  He is inspiring not only young students in engineering and science but also their community.
