Get Hands On with SOLIDWORKS Design Tools at 3DEXPERIENCE World 2022

Breakout sessions are a huge part of 3DEXPERIENCE World every year. Now that this event is virtual and entirely free, designers and engineers from across the globe can attend any session. And, even though we won’t be together in person, attendees can still join hands-on design sessions that are totally online.

Test Driving the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Offer

Monday, February 7th, 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM EST

Tuesday, February 8th, 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM EST

Join Sal Lama, Director of Product Definition, and other members of the SOLIDWORKS Product Definition team for a hands-on workshop.

This virtual hands-on session will guide attendees through the use of several apps in the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Offer (xDesign, xShape, and more). Attendees will also learn how to effectively collaborate using the tools provided by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

These two sessions are identical and you can sign up for either workshop on Monday or Tuesday. There are only 30 spots open in each session, so be sure to register soon! The final day to register for “Test Driving the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Offer” is Friday, February 4th.

Looking for other interesting and exciting breakout sessions in the design domain? Here are some suggestions:

An Introduction Plus What’s New in the SOLIDWORKS Cloud Design Roles

Monday, February 7, 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM EST

Led by Mark Rushton, Senior Product Manager, Design & Engineering, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS

Are you interested to see what is possible in the SOLIDWORKS browser-based design roles and apps? Wondering how far they have come since you looked last? Got any questions about who they are for, and what they can do, or how they work? Then this is the session for you. Hear directly from product management to understand both the technical details and the direction they are headed.

Maniacal Modeling Methods 2022

Wednesday, February 9, 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM EST

Led by Kameron Smith, Engineering Lead, Brutal Engineering

Get more modeling done in less time! This session will demonstrate a bunch of time-saving tips and tricks in a workflow-centric approach. You will learn how to apply these techniques to your daily grind by seeing them applied in the context of past Model Mania® competition parts.

3D Creator, the Power of You Designing for the Future

Wednesday, February 9th, 10:45 AM – 11:30 AM EST

Led by Jody Stiles, Product Definition Senior Manager, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS

This session will explore some of the innovative functionality the SOLIDWORKS team has added to the xDesign app, inside of the 3D Creator role, over the last few years. It will expose you to the single modeling environment, which empowers you to design the way you want and not be dictated to by strict hierarchical design; AI-supported Design Assistants, which help you speed through repetitive tasks; and Super Features, which allow you to change your design intent at any point without a cascade of feature failures or feature deletion and creation. You will also get to see some of the updates done to some familiar features but with a modern and innovative twist.

How a Toy Designer Uses SOLIDWORKS: a Walk-Through From Design to Product

Tuesday, February 8th, 10:45 AM – 11:30 AM EST

Led by Jade Wilson, Product Designer, Design By Jade

This session is a walk-through of how I, as a product and wooden toy designer, have used SOLIDWORKS through the years to design toys for companies in the U.K. See how I use SOLIDWORKS from start to finish to design a wooden toy for manufacturing. The walk-through will cover part design of the toy, toy assembly, factory technical drawings for manufacturing, and finally a motion study for an animation rendered with SOLIDWORKS Visualize. This session would be particularly useful to students or product designers in the industry to see the stages and processes used by somebody in the design industry. Session participants will also see just how many aspects of the design for manufacturing can be achieved in SOLIDWORKS.

3DEXPERIENCE R&D Meetup: A Chat with Product Definition & Portfolio Management
