New SOLIDWORKS Professional API Exam Now Available

A new SOLIDWORKS Professional API exam is now available! SOLIDWORKS API is usually one of the top two most requested exam topics when we have surveyed users. This exam was developed for users who have gone through a SOLIDWORKS API training course and has a good understanding of how to automate SOLIDWORKS with VBA programming.

The challenges in this exam include everything from part design automation, such as sketching and feature creation, to assembly automation, drawing creation, selection and traversal techniques, adding custom properties, and troubleshooting.

The exam is set to last up to two (2) hours and consists of 28 questions:

  • 18 hands-on programming questions covering most areas of the software that will test your ability to create powerful macros for the most tedious of tasks. These tasks include (but not limited to) creating drawings, inserting drawing views and BOM tables, saving drawings in different file formats, hide/suppress/resolve components, adding sketch entities and dimensions, feature creations, such as extrudes and cuts.
  • 10 multiple choice questions to test your knowledge on the SOLIDWORKS API Object Model, programming capabilities with SOLIDWORKS, and your familiarity with VBA programming essentials.

There is no prerequisite to take this exam.

You must use at least SOLIDWORKS 2017 for this exam. Any use of a previous version will result in the inability to open some of the testing files. Also, a 14-day waiting period between retakes applies in the event the user doesn’t pass on the first attempt.

We are delighted to add Programming Users to our Professional community. For more information about this exam, please visit our Certification Catalog.
