FIRST Robotics Teams Take Flight with the SOLIDWORKS xChallenge

SOLIDWORKS Education is excited to invite FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) Teams in the United States to participate in the SOLIDWORKS xChallenge 2019!

The SOLIDWORKS xChallenge 2019 challenges FRC teams to become 3D Sculptors and 3D Creators, and design their own personal flying machine using xDesign and xShape on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The only criterion is that their flying machine must be for one person’s use—other than that, the sky is the limit! We want teams to get creative and have fun.

The first place team will win $10,000! Second place winner will win $5,000, third place will win $3,000, and fifty (50) qualifying runner-up teams will win $500 each!

After the success of the SOLIDWORKS xDesign Challenge for FRC Teams last year, where teams were asked to make their own lunar landers, we decided to up the prizes and introduce exciting new apps to students across the country. By utilizing the power of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and the parametric and subdivision modeling tools available to 3D Sculptors and 3D Creators, teams can create the most incredible flying machines they can imagine.

If you’re a mentor or an interested team member in the United States, you can learn more about the challenge and register on the SOLIDWORKS xChallenge 2019 website. Please note, all team members participating in the xChallenge must  register on the website.

Teams will be judged based on the creativity of their design and ideas, their use of the xChallenge community on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, and the complexity of their final design. Registration is open and the final submission date is December 16, 2019. It’s time for FRC teams to take flight—we can’t wait to see what they design!

Teams must have a minimum of 5 members 14+ and an adult team mentor who are all legal residents of one of the 50 U.S. States or D.C. Void elsewhere and where prohibited. Contest ends 12/16/2019.
