Turkey’s Yaris Kabin is a leading international tractor cabin and equipment producer. Recently, our friends at Yaris Kabin shared some great details about their unique application for SolidWorks Composer on the shop floor. Before implementing Composer, Yaris Kabin faced several challenges in their manufacturing and documentation processes, including how to accurately and instantly pick and install parts for their highly customizable cabs from a 450 category part library.
To address this issue, Yaris Kabin decided to implement SolidWorks Composer directly on the shop floor. By utilizing interactive 3D content created in Composer in conjunction with bar code scanners and touch screen displays, assembly workers were given an intelligent, fully interactive guide to assembling their components. Workers can now scan in a numbered part using a bar code scanner, immediately bringing up 3D SolidWorks Composer file of the cab assembly at the appropriate point in the assembly process. Furthermore, workers also have the ability to check their part by manipulating the 3D component on the a screen display to ensure the correct part is being installed. Best of all, the operator has detailed instructions of the assembly process as well as the tools required for installation at their fingertips. For a company that produces numerous custom iterations of their cabs, these features ensure that the correct parts are chosen and the appropriate assembly steps are taken to build the customer their order to their exact specifications.
