COFES Friday Noon

I am in a COFES session on sustainable design.  COFES 2009 has a whole new track "DaS" on sustainable design.

There is a lot that engineering software companies can do.  Rick Chin of SolidWorks has presented the cool Sage product for SolidWorks at SolidWorks World.  He also presented here at COFES today.

Key points to take away:

    1) Sustainability requires a cultural change

    2) Designers need quantifiable guidance

    3) Corporations need to rethink product lifecycles

Good attendance at this session.  Sustainability clearly on the minds of the attendees.  My sense is that most of our customers are in the midst of working harder on sustainability.  Saving materials, energy, transportation costs, compliance, etc.

Compelling subject, compelling future.
