National University of Singapore Team Bumblebee Engineering Autonomous Systems of the Future
Team Bumblebee from the National University of Singapore (NUS), continues to succeed in international competitions and autonomous systems development. Mechanical design team member, Quek Wei, shared with the SOLIDWORKS EDU team their latest accomplishments.
Team Bumblebee recently participated in the Maritime Robosub Challenge 2023 held at the US Naval Transdec facility in San Diego, California with a total of 35 teams from 5 countries. They have emerged as Champions, along with the other listed accomplishments in RoboSub 2023:
- 1st Place in Autonomy Challenge
- 2nd Place Design Documentation
- 1st Place System Assessment
- 1st Place Website
Quek went on to say “On behalf of Bumblebee Autonomous Systems, I would like to extend my gratitude to SOLIDWORKS EDU for their unwavering support for the team. This would not have been possible without the help and the tools provided by SOLIDWORKS in our efforts to research and develop robotics in the maritime industry.”
SOLIDWORKS EDU has been supporting Team Bumblebee for a long time. We visited NUS in Singapore in 2015 during a SOLIDWORKS certification exam event for 100’s of NUS students and in 2014 at Maritime RobotX where we met Team Bumblebee captain Grace Chia showcasing another great design.
Team Bumblebee invited us to participate in their sponsorship appreciation event. Dassault Systemes, Ba-Thong Phan, AP South Industry Process Senior Consultant, and Nirajit Syamal, 3DEXPERIENCE EDU Leader, attended to celebrate their success.
We got to check out some of Bumblebee’s latest designs too.
Thank you Team Bumblebee for sharing with the SOLIDWORKS Community.
Design well, Marie
