Penn State’s Lunar Lion – the first ever university-led mission to the Moon
The launch date is set, the spacecraft design is is complete, and at the moment, it looks like the Penn State Lunar Lion team might just win the Google Lunar Prize by being the first non-government group ever to accomplish so technical a task.
The next step in the race is to build and test the lander prototype. They are reaching out for crowd source funding.
Beyond classroom theory, this project is giving students a chance to do rocket science.
