From Bits and Atoms to Fabrication [Podcast with Dr. Neil Gershenfeld]

Dr. Gershenfeld is a Professor and Director of MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms.  At the Center, he and his students are researching many incredible things, such as cell-by-cell development, nanotechnology, and community self-sufficiency, among other things.  He is also the Chairman of the Fab Foundation, which has done phenomenal work to change lives around the world by making personal fabrication accessible across the globe.  With Dr. Gershenfeld’s help, we started the Digital Fabrication Lab (Fab Lab) as part of 3DEXPERIENCE Lab at our North American HQ of Dassault Systemes in Waltham, MA, where I had the chance to meet with Dr. Gershenfeld and many of his students (Jake Read, Erik Strand, Amira Abdel-Rahman, Falcone, Filippos Tourlomousis, James Prue), along with Abhishek Bali, 3DEXPERIENCE Lab North American Manager. This is the group from MIT that’s working on many new ideas that will change design and innovation.

We discussed what the future of design looks like, and many of the new projects on which Dr. Gershenfeld and his students are working on.
