SIMULIA Structural Simulation Engineer – Solving Complex Physics with Speed and Confidence

I’m excited to announce that starting today SIMULIA® Structural Simulation Engineer (SSE) is commercially available! You can extend SOLIDWORKS® Simulation with a tightly integrated, cloud-based solution and conduct structural static, frequency, buckling, modal dynamic response, and structural-thermal analysis of parts and assemblies. Please ask your reseller for SSE availability in your country.

Built on the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, SSE enables you to speed up the design process by running simulation calculations in the cloud or on your local machine. Aiming to give you the tools, data management, and collaborative environment needed to accelerate innovation, the platform comes with a growing collection of apps.

“Innovative companies around the world are increasingly pushing the envelope on accelerating time to market while improving product quality and cutting costs”, said Aaron Kelly, Vice President, SOLIDWORKS Research & Development, Dassault Systèmes. “We believe in making advanced simulation technology accessible to small and medium-size businesses and SSE is a major step in this direction. Our customers can now validate complex product designs created in SOLIDWORKS with ease, speed, and confidence and continue to define what’s next in their industry.”

SSE arms design engineers and simulation engineers with advanced structural and thermal simulation technology powered by SIMULIA Abaqus, the proven world-class Finite Element Analysis Solver. It makes it possible to run, quickly and reliably, multiple non-linear studies, including large amounts of contact with friction, complex materials, sequential loading, and large deformations.

You can access SSE directly from SOLIDWORKS Simulation and let your geometry and model features be transferred into SSE with a single click. Set advanced simulations in less time by reusing loads, boundary conditions, mesh definitions, and material properties. Every time you modify your SOLIDWORKS CAD design, your simulation model in SSE updates automatically.

An innovative, fast-growing oil and gas company based in Canada needed more power to study the plastic deformation of a new drive system for a drilling motor that was large and had complex contact patches and significant displacement changes. They used SSE to validate this design. Click here to read the full story and to watch the video.

“By speeding up design and innovation, SSE has helped us to develop revolutionary oil and gas drilling products more quickly and cost-effectively”, said Peter Kjellbotn, Mechanical Engineer, InFocus Energy Services. “SSE gave us the ability to solve locally or solve on the cloud with high-performance resources. It helped us cut our solve times down from overnight to just a few hours. We saved at least $10,000 in physical testing just for one product design.”
