Has it Really Been 10 Years?

I’ve had the privilege of helping several of our SOLIDWORKS User Groups celebrate their 10 year anniversaries this year, and I still have five more to go.  Each time I’m left in awe – for 10 straight years, a SOLIDWORKS user (or group of SOLIDWORKS users) has taken a good deal of their own time to put together 3 – 6 meetings per year, arrange for presenters, food, and prizes, and provide a venue for all SOLIDWORKS users to network, learn, and have some fun.

This week I’ve been in Indiana with the Central Indiana SOLIDWORKS User Group and the Northern Indiana SOLIDWORKS User Group.  Both meetings were well attended by enthusiastic group members, and group leaders Peter Fischer and Peggy Frantz were more than a little excited.  Avelino Rochino and I shared the presentation duties, and I think both sessions were well received.

It’s amazing how much passion and energy our user group leaders have, and even more so that the passion can last 10 years and beyond.  Next year we start celebrating some of our user groups’ 20th anniversaries, and I’ll be even more amazed.  Thanks to ALL of our SOLIDWORKS User Group leaders for their time, their dedication, and for keeping the SOLIDWORKS User Group Network the premier user organization in the industry.

My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
