Cheers from England – Here's Some SWUGN News

I’m in England this week for a couple of SOLIDWORKS User Group meetings in London and Liverpool, but there’s plenty of other stuff going on in the SOLIDWORKS Community this week:

The first meeting of the new Southern Virginia SOLIDWORKS User Group is tonight in Danville. Group co-leader Roland Flego will be busy presenting both of the scheduled technical sessions.

The Rochester SOLIDWORKS User Group will meet at the Rochester Massage Alliance on Tuesday the 9th.

4 of our SOLIDWORKS User Groups will hold meetings at EDU facilities this week:

Rock Valley College plays host to the Rockford Area SOLIDWORKS User Group tonight.

Danville Community College is the venue for the aforementioned Southern Virginia SOLIDWORKS User Group meeting.

Gateway Community College welcomes the Phoenix Metro SOLIDWORKS User Group on June 10th.

The Western Ontario SOLIDWORKS User Group meets at Conestoga College, also on June 10th.

In other news…

Our first internal planning meeting for SOLIDWORKS World 2016 is a week from today.  Time to start getting excited!!

The SWUGN Summit – St. Louis will be held on June 18th.  Lots of great presenters and sessions.

DS SOLIDWORKS made a couple of great hires recently.

Catherine Norman joins the DS SOLIDWORKS Corporate Accounts Team in the role of Client Executive. Catherine has been involved with the SOLIDWORKS Community since 1996, first as an Applications Engineer and eventually as Sales Manager for MLC CAD Systems in Texas.  I’ve known Catherine since 1997 when she demo’d SOLIDWORKS for the company I was working for at the time.  I met her again several weeks later when she trained me to use SOLIDWORKS.

Rachel York is a familiar name to a lot of folks in the SOLIDWORKS Community.  Rachel appeared on the scene as the founder of the Tech Valley SOLIDWORKS User Group way back in 2010. At SOLIDWORKS World 2012, Rachel was awarded the SWUGN User Group Leader of the Year Award for 2011.  Shortly thereafter, she joined a SOLIDWORKS Reseller in the Albany, NY area before joining a second reseller last year in St. Louis. Starting today, Rachel joins DS SOLIDWORKS as the new Community and User Advocacy Manager.

Welcome aboard Catherine and Rachel!

My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
