I'm Traveling Next Week (and staying home)

Jim Wilkinson, VP of User Experience Architecture, SOLIDWORKS R&D will join me in Texas next week for a series of SOLIDWORKS User Group Meetings.  Technically, I’ll be at home, but our schedule and the sheer size of the State of Texas will make it feel like I’m out on the road.

We’ll start in San Antonio on Tuesday, where Jim Lowery and his SASUG team will likely give Jim his first taste of some real Texas BBQ in a while.  At last report, the attendance is expected to be more than 50.

Wednesday we head to Houston to see Joe Lance and the HOUSUG members at Halliburton.  Joe has graciously offered up a tour of the Halliburton facility, and I’m sure Jim will enjoy that very much (I’ve been on the tour, but I’m anxious to see what else is new in oil tools).  Attendance is always huge at the HOUSUG meetings.

Last stop is my hometown of Austin and the Central Texas SOLIDWORKS User Group.  Group leader Bill Casnovsky was kind enough to arrange a couple of customer visits for Jim, and has invited the Westlake Chaps FIRST Robotics team to make a short presentation at the meeting.

For football fans, Westlake High School also produced both Saints Quarterback Drew Brees and Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles.  They’re still a local sports powerhouse, but now they’re cranking out engineers too.

Three meetings in three nights in a state the size of Texas makes for some long days, but the payoff is huge.  Jim gets to meet a lot of customers, a lot of customers get to meet Jim, and I get to put some quality miles on my new Ford Focus.

Come out and see us Texas!
