SolidWorks World 2014 Partner Spotlight: TEDCF Publishing

Every year in the weeks leading up to SolidWorks World, we give attendees a chance to learn about some of our Solution Partners attending the event and setting up booths in the Partner Pavilion. Our partners play a big role in making the event great every year, and they always come with some of the newest technology and tools that help make SolidWorks users more productive. Now through January 26, we’re giving some of these partners a chance to let attendees know what they can expect–in their own words. Today we hear from TEDCF Publishing.

TEDCF Publishing makes video based training courses for SolidWorks and other 3D CAD software. We are a sister company of The Engineering Department Consulting Firm, which is what TEDCF stands for.

TEDCFOur mission is to provide training that helps individuals and companies increase their productivity. So while you learn how the software works you also learn the best way to use it. Typically when you first start using CAD software you slowly figure out what to do and what not to do.  Along the way you waste a lot of time and lose a lot of work. Our goal is to help you skip this step so that you can be as productive as possible in the shortest amount of time. We’ve been around a long time, so we know what it takes to teach best practices.  We released our first 3D CAD training course in 2003 and have been growing an arsenal of training ever since.

Our first course for SolidWorks was Professional Modeling for SolidWorks 2009.  Since then we’ve published 13 training courses for SolidWorks, and our latest master piece is the Deluxe Bundle of courses for SolidWorks 2014.  It covers everything you need to construct high quality and reusable models and assemblies.  You learn how to customize drawing sheet formats, and it even covers sheet metal models and assemblies.

Our Deluxe Bundle for SolidWorks 2014 is our prize creation. It contains 4 courses starting with the Professional Modeling course. This course shows you the basics of model construction, but it also shows that there are several different ways to get the same job done. One of the most important things this course shows you is there is a best method of doing things, and it shows you why. With each step you progressively build skills that streamline your work and simplifies the ability to edit and reuse you models and assemblies.

The second course is Advanced Parts and Assemblies. It takes the skills you learned in the first course and amplifies them. You learn how to work with advanced topics like configurations, design tables, multi-body modeling, and the list goes on. It even covers the details of creating an entire weight machine complete with lat pull-down and a bench press from scratch. All our courses come with parts and assemblies we’ve made, but when you build an assembly like this from scratch you get the big picture.

Mechanical Drawings is the third course and it does what the name suggests.  It shows you what you need to know to create professional drawings. These days mechanical drawings are created with just a few clicks of a button.  Open a new drawing and the title block is automatically filled in. A couple of clicks later and all the views are finished. Add a few dimensions, and you’re done. The problem is you have to setup your sheet formats, title blocks, revision tables, etc. to do it. This course shows you how it’s done. It covers the basics through advanced procedures so that you can streamline your work.

The Sheet Metal course is the last course, but it’s certainly not the least. It shows you how to setup your bend allowances and templates so that you can quickly and accurately create sheet metal parts and assemblies.  You learn all the commands, and the best way to use them.  It even covers multi-body sheet metal modeling.

Our courses show you how to simplify the use of SolidWorks by working as efficiently as possible. When you use sound processes in SolidWorks you don’t have to reconstruct or start over and over. This frees up your time to focus on more important issues like the design you’re working on.

SolidWorks World attendees should come visit the TEDCF booth (#109) because we will be giving away a free Deluxe Bundle of courses for SolidWorks each day of the SolidWorks World event. Stop by and scan your badge to enter. We’ll also have a brochure containing a 10% off discount dode that can be used on any of our products, so be sure to stop by.
