Dallas Loses, Dallas Wins

The Dallas-Forth Worth area suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of my (original home town) Golden State Warriors last night, but a room full of SolidWorks users at the NSTUG meeting were clear winners.

Thomas Allsup of Anida Technologies delivered the key shots with his "The 7 Habits of Effective SolidWorks People" presentation, a tongue-in-cheek (and admitted) plagiarism of Stephen R. Covey’s "The 7 Habits of Effective People".  Thomas clearly showed how Covey’s 7 habits can be translated to working with SolidWorks.

Larry Cawood of Forney Corporation came off the bench in the third quarter and led the team down the stretch with a look at "SolidWorks in the Real World".  Larry’s team at Forney does some really great things with design tables and configurations to create families of parts and the supporting documentation.

Team manager Christie Reed put together a great game plan, and the outcome was never in doubt.  The post game celebration included a delicious, home-made cake to honor Larry for his recent birthday, and his impending retirement.  Larry has been great about hosting NTSUG meetings at his facility and we thank him for that.

I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
