The Birthplace of Elvis Gets a User Group

I rarely mention it (for obvious reasons), but when I was a kid in the 60’s, Elvis Presley was my favorite "actor".  I’ve seen most of his 31 movies, and "Follow That Dream" was my favorite, followed closely by Viva Las Vegas.  Elvis was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8th, 1935.

Byron Morgan heads up the new North Mississippi SolidWorks User Group based in Tupelo.  Byron’ss going to be a great group leader.  We traded a few emails about getting the group started, and at one point I asked him how he would like to proceed.  His response was "Full Throttle".  My kind of guy.

Byron even managed to land a high profile speaker for his first meeting on 04/17.  Ricky Jordan will head on over to do his "Importing and Repairing Models in SolidWorks" session for the group, as well as offer some sage advice for Byron as he learns the ins and outs of running a local user group chapter.

If you’re in the area, make it a point to attend.

And for the rest of you Elvis fans, here’s a pretty good site (complete with trailers!!)

My official title is Senior User Advocacy & SolidWorks User Groups - but most people just call me "The User Group Guy". I've been a SolidWorks user since 1997, and was one of the founding members of the SWUGN Committee. Since starting the Central Texas SolidWorks User Group in 1999, my career path has led me to DS SolidWorks and a dream job supporting the SolidWorks User Group Network worldwide.
