SWUGN Summit – Houston

One down, eight to go

The first of nine SWUGN Technical Summits was held in Houston, Texas last week. The event drew 65 users and featured ten different technical sessions, and a couple of vendor presentations during the sit-down lunch. User reaction to the event was very favorable, and a follow up survey revealed that the event was very successful. Attending primarily for the technical content, SolidWorks users found sessions on assembly modeling, Smart Components, sheet metal and other core SolidWorks technology. The chance to network with fellow SolidWorks users was also a big draw. Sandy Meyer of Pathfinder Energy Services in Houston had this to say:

“The SWUGN Summit event was ideal for introducing co-workers to what can be learned, or even re-learned by setting a little time aside. The technical sessions, networking, and the fact that it was local was perfect for any company that wants to know the value of SolidWorks user group events such as these.”

Attendees included many current members of the Houston SolidWorks User Group (HOUSUG) and group leader Alan Cegielski took the opportunity to introduce himself to the rest of the crowd. As a result of the event’s success, Alan expects a big increase in awareness of HOUSUG and greater attendance at the next local user group meeting. The SWUGN Technical Summits are monthly one-day networking and learning events scheduled across the US. The next SWUGN Summit event will be held in San Jose, California on April 18th.
