Some parts use Revolved Cut to create their geometry, others have Swept Bosses. The newel has multiple configurations and uses a Sketch Picture to help create the profile. The handrail geometry is copied to other parts in the assembly using the “Insert Part” command copying over only an absorbed sketch. This allows the handrail geometry to be modified quickly in one place and then the changes automatically propagate to the other parts in the assembly. All the balusters are added using Linear Component Patterns. Download this assembly to see how to use Equations, Sketch Pictures and Insert Part to add intelligence to your designs and allow for quick modifications. This model is in SW 2013 Format.

Download: Stairs Assembly
Complexity: Complex
Features: Linear Pattern, 3D Sketch, Surface Cut, Revolve Cut, Sweep

View all the Part Reviewer Tutorials here.

DraftSight Download: In conjunction with DraftSight, Dassault Systèmes’ 2D CAD product, the 2D drawing(.dwg) file of the Stairs Assembly is now available for download here.

Stairs Assembly: This assembly has several components, some with multiple configurations to create the stairs, including the handrails, newels and balusters.
